- A BIOGRAPHY -

John Wesley Taylor was born July 7, 1857 and the first child born to Joseph C. Taylor and Sarah Ellen (Mitchell) Taylor. He was born outside Carlisle, Sullivan County, Indiana.  Prior to settling down, John traveled and worked in Kansas and Arkansas.  John also farmed and worked for a CCC Salt Company in Indiana.  He married Jennie Robbins on July 31, 1883.  Jennie's birth date is unknown.  John and Jennie lived on a farm near Westport, Indiana and had 2 children - a boy who died in infancy (name unknown) and a girl by the name of Mae who married John Sulkey.  Jennie Robbins Taylor died April 18, 1894 near Westport.  John suffered damage to in a steam derrick accident just before his son died and while Jennie was seriously ill.  John remarried to Hanna Etta Pease on February 28, 1903.  Hannah Etta Pease was born March 1, 1885. John and "Etta" had two sons - William and Joseph Harrison Taylor.  William died in infancy.  John Wesley Taylor died of pneumonia on March 26, 1908 and is buried at Mt. Aerie Cemetery, Westport, Indiana.  Hannah Etta Taylor remarried to Smith Bliton and had children of their own.
